Klisura
Bulgaria
This modest Bulgarian town in the Karlovo Valley, Klisura sits between the Balkan Mountains to the north and the Sredna Gora range to the south, making it a starting point for routes into the Central Balkan National Park and toward peaks in both ranges. The town played a central role in the April Uprising of 1876 and is the birthplace of Hristo G. Danov, founder of the first Bulgarian printing house in Plovdiv. The Church of St Nicholas and a local Historical Museum preserve that heritage.
