A historic district in southeast Berlin where the rivers Dahme and Spree meet, Köpenick has a well-preserved medieval old town and a Baroque palace, both situated on islands, alongside a walkable centre with cafés and listed buildings. The area is associated with the 1906 Hauptmann von Köpenick affair, in which an impostor commandeered a town hall, and is home to Bundesliga club 1. FC Union Berlin and Mellowpark, the largest outdoor skatepark in Europe.
