Kot Diji
Pakistan
Occupied as far back as around 3300 BCE, Kot Diji is one of Pakistan's significant Indus Valley Civilization sites, where excavations in the 1950s uncovered sixteen layers of settlement and defined the pre-Harappan cultural phase now called Kot Dijian. The site sits at the foot of the Rohri Hills on the east bank of the Indus River, directly opposite Mohenjo-daro. A well-preserved fort built around 1790 by the Talpur dynasty ruler Mir Suhrab stands on a steep ridge above the town.
