Founded in 1553 as San Pedro de Lambayeque, this coastal town in northern Peru is home to two of the country's most significant museums: the Royal Tombs Museum and the Brüning Museum. A short distance from Chiclayo, it also serves as the seat of the region's main public university, making it a cultural and educational hub for the department.
