Lianjiang

China

Coastal county on the eastern shore of Fujian Province, Lianjiang sits along the Taiwan Strait with a modest central core of cafés and restaurants. The county is also notable for its political geography: since the mid-20th century civil war between the PRC and ROC, it has been the only county in China divided between two governments — the mainland portion under Beijing, and the outlying Matsu Islands administered by Taiwan.
