Gateway city to Victoria Falls, a UNESCO-listed natural wonder on the Zambezi River, Livingstone is a historic colonial city in Zambia's Southern Province with a walkable centre well supplied with cafés and restaurants. Named after the Scottish explorer David Livingstone, it served as the first capital of Northern Rhodesia from 1911 to 1935. Road and rail connections link it directly to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, the resort town on the opposite bank of the falls.
