A town in southern Sweden's Småland region, Ljungby sits along the river Lagan with a walkable centre of cafés and restaurants. Much of that centre was rebuilt after a fire in 1953, giving it a distinctive International Style character — most visibly in the Hotel Terazza and the piazza beside it, an ensemble that remains locally debated. The town has been the seat of Ljungby Municipality since 1971 and lies in the historical region of Finnveden.
