Llanfihangel-y-Pennant
TLL32 · United Kingdom
This small Welsh hamlet in the foothills of Cadair Idris, Llanfihangel-y-Pennant is known for two historical draws: the ruined 13th-century Castell y Bere, a stronghold of the Welsh princes of Gwynedd, and the story of Mari Jones, who in 1800 walked some 26 miles from here to Bala to buy a Welsh Bible — an act that inspired Thomas Charles to found the British and Foreign Bible Society.
