A town in central Ukraine's Poltava Oblast with a compact centre where cafés and restaurants are within easy reach of one another and of the nearby river. Lubny served as the seat of the Vyshnevetsky princes and was the capital of their domain from 1639 to 1648; it also briefly hosted the short-lived Lubny Republic during the revolutionary period of 1905 to 1907.
