Magburaka

The district capital of Tonkolili in Sierra Leone's Northern Province, Magburaka sits along the Rokel River within sight of mountains and a short drive from Makeni. The town is home to the Government Secondary School for Boys, the first western-standard secondary school built in northern Sierra Leone and alma mater of former president Ernest Bai Koroma, as well as the Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology. Some buildings from the Sierra Leone Railway era survive, and road reconstruction since 2011 has improved access through the town.
