A town on the Manyu River in Cameroon's Southwest Region, Mamfe serves as the capital of Manyu Division and sits close to the Nigerian border. It is known as a centre for traditional religion, including the Obasinjom and Ekpe Society, and for traditional medicine. Since 2017, the city has been caught up in the Anglophone Crisis, with significant armed conflict affecting the area; prospective visitors should check current safety conditions before travelling.
