Mandimba is a city in Niassa Province, north-western Mozambique, sitting close to the Malawi border and within reach of mountains and water. It served as the administrative headquarters of the western zone of the Niassa Company territory until 1931, when control reverted to direct Portuguese administration. The city gained municipal status in 2013 and draws independent travellers as a crossing point between Mozambique and Malawi.
