Mandla
Mandla · India
Mandla sits within a loop of the Narmada River, which wraps around the town on three sides, with many ghats built along its banks for worship. Near the town, a spot called Sahastradhaara sees the river split into multiple streams around rocks, a site mentioned in Hindu religious texts. Mandla was once a capital of the Gondwana Kingdom, and the ruins of a palace and fort from that era remain, along with its historical association with the Gond queen Durgavati.
