Marinilla
Colombia
A colonial-era town in Eastern Antioquia, Marinilla is known as "the Colombian Sparta" for the role its people played leading battles during the War of Independence. Its walkable centre features cobblestone streets connecting historic churches and plazas, two-story homes with wooden balconies, and modest restaurants serving regional dishes. Declared a national heritage monument in 1963, it sits on the Antioquia highlands east of Medellín, close to mountains and the reservoir at El Peñol.
