Mata-Utu

Wallis & Futuna

This compact waterfront capital of Wallis and Futuna — a French overseas collectivity in the Pacific — sits on the island of Uvéa with mountains as a backdrop and a handful of cafés and restaurants for its size. The Matâ'Utu Cathedral and the adjacent royal palace are the town's main landmarks, with an old chapel on Mt. Lulu Fakahega above. It also serves as one of only two ports in the territory.
