Matalascañas
Huelva · Spain
A coastal resort village on Spain's longest beach, Matalascañas sits at the edge of Doñana National Park in Huelva province, with fine golden sand, mobile dunes, and a long-held Blue Flag designation. A 16th-century defensive tower — Torre de la Higuera, built under Philip II to guard against corsair raids — stands half-buried on the beach and gives the village its older name. The surrounding Doñana park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, borders the resort directly.
