Mbala

Zambia's most northerly large town, Mbala sits close to the southern approaches to Lake Tanganyika, with the port of Mpulungu a short drive to the north-west. Formerly known as Abercorn, it served as a key British colonial outpost in this part of south-central Africa and remains the administrative seat of Mbala District in Northern Province, positioned near the border with Tanzania.
