This town in Myanmar's Magwe Division on the western bank of the Ayeyarwady River, Minbu sits within sight of the Arakan Mountains and is noted for its historic churches. The Ayeyarwady here is broad, with islands and sandbanks, and the surrounding district is known for mud volcanoes and the Man Shwe Sek Taw pagoda. Agriculture, fisheries along the river and Paunglin Lake, and reserved forest define the wider area.
