The only settlement on the shores of Mar Chiquita — the largest lake in Argentina and one of the largest in South America — Miramar de Ansenuza is a modest town in the northeast of Córdoba Province. The lake's salt waters and therapeutic muds drew visitors rapidly from the 1940s through the 1960s, and the town developed as a resort destination with hotels and a casino during that period.
