Mouthe
Doubs · France
France's coldest recorded place, Mouthe is a tiny Jura mountain village in the Doubs department where Météo-France officially logged −36.7°C on 13 January 1968. Set in the Haut-Jura regional nature park near the Swiss border, it serves as a modest winter sports station with alpine and cross-country ski runs, and is the finish village of the Transjurassienne cross-country ski race. Visitors also come for the source of the Doubs river, the surrounding peat bogs, and hiking trails through highland terrain.
