Mystic
Southeastern Connecticut Planning Region · United States
Mystic Seaport, the largest maritime museum in the United States, anchors this tiny Connecticut village on the Mystic River, where more than 600 ships were built over a century and a half starting in 1784. The museum preserves historic sailing vessels including the whaling ship Charles W. Morgan. The village itself sits where the river meets Fishers Island Sound, with a bascule bridge crossing the water at its centre and a café and restaurant scene that would suit a town twice its size.
