Nafpaktos
Αιτωλοακαρνανία · Greece
Known in the West as Lepanto, this modest Greek town on the north shore of the Gulf of Corinth was the site of the 1571 Battle of Lepanto, the decisive Holy League victory over the Ottoman fleet. A Venetian-built harbour, layered medieval walls climbing to a hilltop castle, and a waterfront dense with cafés make it a rewarding stop, with scenic viewpoints over the gulf from the upper fortifications.
