Nansang

The largest town in the east-central area of Shan State, Nansang sits on the Taunggyi–Tachileik road in eastern Myanmar, with bus connections to Yangon and Mandalay. The Taung Paw Pagoda stands in the town's southern quarter, and around thirty monasteries serve a predominantly Buddhist population that also includes Hindu and Muslim communities. The surrounding area is agricultural, with rice, maize, and sesame among the main crops.
