This compact town on the Gulf of Thailand coast in Thailand's deep south, Narathiwat sits at the mouth of the Bang Nara River where it meets the sea, with a café and restaurant scene concentrated in its walkable centre. Established in 1936, it serves as the provincial capital and offers easy access to nearby mountains inland.
