Neustadt an der Weinstraße
Germany
One of Germany's central wine towns, Neustadt an der Weinstraße sits along the Deutsche Weinstraße in Rhineland-Palatinate and hosts the annual Deutsche Weinlesefest, at which the German Wine Queen is traditionally elected. The town is also home to Hambacher Schloss, the site of the 1832 Hambacher Fest, a landmark moment in the German democratic movement. A walkable centre with a dense food-and-drink scene and historic churches sits against a backdrop of mountain terrain with scenic viewpoints.
