This city on the Klyazma River in Moscow Oblast, Noginsk — known as Bogorodsk until 1930 — sits on the northwestern edge of the Meshchera Lowlands, roughly an hour east of Moscow. Designated a historic settlement in 2013, it has a walkable centre with cafés and restaurants along the riverfront. The surrounding lowland landscape offers scenic viewpoints across the flat, forested terrain characteristic of this part of central Russia.
