Nok

Nok, a village in Kaduna State, Nigeria, gives its name to one of Africa's most significant ancient cultures: the Nok culture, whose distinctive terracotta figurines were produced across the region from around 1500 BC to 500 AD. The figurines were first uncovered in 1943 during mining operations, with further excavations led by Bernard Fagg revealing additional pieces and evidence of early iron-smelting.
