Nymfaio

Protected traditional settlement high in the mountains of Western Macedonia, Nymfaio has been designated for architectural preservation since 1978 and was a contender for the UNESCO Melina Mercouri International Prize for cultural and environmental stewardship. The village sits on the eastern slopes of Mount Verno in the Florina regional unit and, despite its compact size, holds several historic churches. It has its own Wikivoyage entry, reflecting steady independent traveller interest.
