Chile's self-styled surf capital, Pichilemu sits on the Pacific coast of the O'Higgins Region, where dark sand beaches and the break at Punta de Lobos draw surfers year-round and host international championships. The town holds five Chilean National Monuments, including the Agustín Ross Cultural Centre and Park and a historic wooden railway station, and part of the centre was designated a heritage zone in 2004. A good café and restaurant scene rounds out a destination that mixes beach-town ease with a genuine surf culture.
