Plentzia

A small Basque resort town on the Bay of Plentzia, a short metro ride from Bilbao, with a sheltered beach on the River Butrón estuary, a café and pintxos bar scene, and a municipal fronton where pelota matches are regularly played. The summer population swells considerably as Bilbao families arrive for the season, and the bay hosts a traditional regatta competition known as the Bandera de Plencia. A small museum covers the town's history as a merchant marine port.
