Poio

This waterside municipality on the north shore of the Ría de Pontevedra in Galicia, Poio sits between the resort town of Sanxenxo and the provincial capital, with mountain terrain rising behind the coast. The area combines estuary scenery with a good concentration of cafés, restaurants, and historic churches for its size. Tambo island, an uninhabited island in the middle of the estuary, officially belongs to Poio but is controlled by the Spanish Navy and closed to visitors.
