A mid-sized city in the interior of São Paulo state, Presidente Prudente has a walkable centre with a concentration of historic churches, cafés, and restaurants. Known as the "Capital of Western São Paulo," it serves as a major industrial and cultural hub for the region, with landmarks including the Parque do Povo and the Teatro Municipal Procópio Ferreira. The city takes its name from Prudente de Morais (1841–1902), Brazil's first Republican governor of São Paulo.
