Ptolemaida
Γρεβενά, Κοζάνη · Greece
Ptolemaida, a town in Western Macedonia's Kozani regional unit, is known as Greece's energy capital — its lignite mines and coal-fired power stations have driven the country's electricity production since the first generating unit came online in 1959. The town sits within sight of mountains and close to water, and serves as the seat of the Eordaia municipality. The wider Eordaia region is considered part of the ancient heartland of the Macedonians.
