Puerto Williams
Cabo de Hornos · Chile
Puerto Williams, on the Chilean side of the Beagle Channel, claims the title of the world's southernmost city — a distinction contested by Argentina's Ushuaia, just across the water. Founded in 1953 on Navarino Island, it serves as a port of entry for Cape Horn and Antarctica, and sits within the Cape Horn Biosphere Reserve. The surrounding terrain offers trekking, and the town has a tiny but functional spread of cafés and restaurants for its size.
