Uruguay's most prominent beach resort sits on a narrow Atlantic peninsula in the Maldonado Department, drawing visitors to its beaches, casinos, and yacht-filled harbour. Landmarks include the giant hand sculpture La Mano, the Santorini-styled Casapueblo complex, and the Rafael Viñoly-designed Puente Garzón bridge, while protected natural reserves such as Isla de Lobos and Gorriti Island lie nearby.
