Pweto
Congo - Kinshasa
A town on the Zambian border in DR Congo's Haut-Katanga Province, Pweto sits near water and within reach of mountains. It serves as the administrative centre of Pweto Territory and was the site of a significant battle in December 2000 during the Second Congo War — a confrontation that pushed both sides toward peace negotiations. The town and surrounding region suffered heavily during the war, and infrastructure recovery has been slow.
