A modest town on the southeastern coast of the Greater Island of Chiloé in southern Chile, Queilén is known locally for its beaches and views across the Gulf of Corcovado toward the Andes. The commune also takes in two islands, Acui and Tranqui, the latter the largest sub-island in Chiloé Province. The wider archipelago sits within a region ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
