This coastal town in Chile's Valparaíso Region with scenic viewpoints along its shoreline, Quintero holds a place in Chilean history as the country's first port, established during Diego de Almagro's expedition. It sits a short drive north of Valparaíso, itself near UNESCO-listed heritage in the wider region. Heavy industry, including the Fundición Ventanas smelter, operates within the commune alongside the town.
