Road Town
British Virgin Islands
Road Town, the capital of the British Virgin Islands, sits on horseshoe-shaped Road Harbour on Tortola's south coast, with a tiny centre of wooden shopfronts, cafés, and art galleries backed by mountain terrain. The Wickham's Cay marina development has made it a base for yacht chartering in the region. The oldest building in town, HM Prison on Main Street, dates to 1774, and Cockroach Hall — built atop a large rock on the same street — is a local landmark.
