Rondonópolis
Rondonópolis · Brazil
This regional industrial and agricultural hub in southeastern Mato Grosso, Rondonópolis sits at the junction of two major federal highways — BR-163 and BR-364 — making it a natural stopping point between Brazil's north and south. The city holds the second-largest GDP in Mato Grosso and leads the country in soybean oil processing and fertilizer blending. Named for explorer and military officer Cândido Rondon, it was formerly called Rio Vermelho (Red River).
