Sa'dah
Yemen
Sa'dah, a highland town in northwestern Yemen, sits in the Serat mountains and carries one of the longest continuous histories of any city in the country — it appears on maps dating to the Ma'in Kingdom, the earliest known Yemeni kingdom, and served for over a thousand years as the seat of the Rassid dynasty. It is considered the birthplace of Zaydi Shiism in Yemen. The town is also the origin of the Houthi movement and has been under Houthi control since the Yemeni revolution.
