Safranbolu
Karabuk · Türkiye
Safranbolu's well-preserved Ottoman old town earned UNESCO World Heritage status in 1994, built around a deep ravine and dense with mosques, caravanserais, Turkish baths, fountains, and hundreds of historic houses and mansions. The town takes its name from saffron, once grown and traded here, and still cultivated in a nearby village. A walkable centre with cafés and restaurants makes it a practical base, and scenic viewpoints surround the area. The town lies in Karabük Province in Turkey's Black Sea region, a few hours north of Ankara.
