Samfya sits on the longest well-defined stretch of Lake Bangweulu's shore in Zambia's Luapula Province, giving the town access to white sandy beaches used for swimming and recreation — though crocodiles are present in the lake. It serves as a departure point for boat transport to islands and other parts of the lake, and hosts the Kwanga Festival of the Ngumbo people each October.
