Known across Colombia as "la Tierra de la Hamaca Grande" — the Land of the Great Hammock, a title drawn from a song by Adolfo Pacheco — San Jacinto is a town in the Bolívar Department, southeast of Cartagena, set among the Montes de María hills near the Caribbean coast. It leads the country in artisan exports, particularly handwoven hammocks, and also produces tobacco and coffee.
