A large city in central Mexico whose historic centre was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010 as part of the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro, San Luis Potosí pairs a dense concentration of colonial-era churches and architecture with an active café and restaurant scene. Founded in 1592 to support nearby silver and gold mining, the city takes its name from Louis IX of France and the silver-rich mines of Potosí, Bolivia.
