São Miguel do Oeste
Brazil
A transit hub in the far west of Santa Catarina, São Miguel do Oeste is a common stopover for Argentine, Paraguayan, and Chilean tourists heading to Santa Catarina's beaches, and for Brazilians en route to Iguaçu Falls. Founded in 1954 by settlers from Rio Grande do Sul — largely of Italian and German descent — it serves as the regional centre for more than twenty municipalities in the extreme west of the state.
