Sátoraljaújhely
Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén · Hungary
Part of the Tokaj-Hegyalja Historic Wine Region Cultural Landscape — a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002 — Sátoraljaújhely sits in mountain terrain on the Slovak border in northeastern Hungary, with a compact centre of cafés and restaurants and scenic surrounds. Long known as the "Capital of Zemplén" for its history as the former seat of Zemplén County, the town was divided by the post-World War I Treaty of Trianon, leaving one of its suburbs now in Slovakia as Slovenské Nové Mesto.
