Small waterfront hamlet on the northeast coast of Vancouver Island, Sayward sits in the Sayward Valley near Kelsey Bay, with mountains close by. The village takes its name from William Parsons Sayward, a 19th-century Victoria lumber merchant originally from Maine who arrived in British Columbia from California in 1858.
