Shahmirzad, a highland city on the southern slopes of Iran's Alborz Mountains in Semnan province, is known for its walnut orchards — the FAO has recognised the area as home to the world's largest walnut garden. One tree, called Kaman Rostam, is over thirteen centuries old and carries national heritage status. The city sits high in the mountains with a cool climate and green landscape, and was designated a model tourism zone in 2007.
