Shirakavan
Kars · Türkiye
Shirakavan, now the village of Çetindurak in Kars Province, was one of the thirteen historic capitals of Armenia, serving as the seat of the Bagratid Kingdom between 890 and 929. Founded under the name Yerazgavors, it stood on the right bank of the Akhurian River northeast of Ani, itself a UNESCO-adjacent site in the wider region. The riverside setting and its medieval Armenian heritage make it a point of interest for those exploring this corner of eastern Türkiye.
